Immanuel is blessed by the pastoral leadership of the Rev. Daniel L. Wilfrid, who accepted a call to our church in June of 1997. Pastor Dan was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. After his undergraduate work, he entered Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota where he received a Master of Divinity degree.
He was ordained in September of 1978 and began his ministry as Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Massachusetts. In February of 1985, he was married to the Rev. Nancy Elder, who was then serving as Associate Pastor at The Church of the Pilgrimage (UCC) in Plymouth.
In early 1986, he accepted a call to become Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Mendham, New Jersey, where he served for eleven years until coming to Immanuel. Pastors Dan and Nancy have two children, Karen (a college senior) and Gregory (a college softmore).
Pastor Dan has been active in the broader work of the church through the New England Synod of the ELCA. He currently serves on the Synod Council and is Chair of the Bishop’s Mutual Ministry Committee. He is also an active member of the ecumenical Holden Clergy Group.
