About Immanuel

We’re a community of people who are learning what it means to follow Jesus together, and to live the kind of radical love, grace, and hospitality he extends to everyone – including us. Our church is made up of imperfect people who recognize our need to receive forgiveness and grace, and to share it with others. We believe that the Gospel – the Good News that we are loved, forgiven, and free through Jesus – is a gift offered to every person regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, or any other category this world tries to tell us is important. And we believe that following Jesus means we have a mission.

We Gather People

We believe one of the best ways we can respond to God’s gracious love is by participating in the life of our church, and that one way we share God’s love is by providing a gathering space for other people and groups in our local community. Our congregation gathers to worship and pray and sing, and we also get together to do things that create community, strengthen relationships, and support one another. Immanuel is a place where all people are welcome to gather in faith and service, and there’s always room for more.

We Nurture Faith

We know that faith is something that needs to be nurtured and tended, which is perhaps why Jesus regularly used agricultural images to talk about faith. There are many things in our world that seek to diminish our faith, but we intentionally engage practices that strengthen our faith: worship, sacraments, prayer, Bible study, and educational opportunities for people of all ages and stages of life.

We Grow in God’s Love

We believe that experiencing grace, forgiveness, and new life through Jesus changes us. It molds and shapes us as we grow in love for God and for one another. We look for opportunities to support and encourage and care for one another, because we know that caring for one another is one of the best ways to express our faith. Immanuel offers opportunities for children, youth, young adults, families with young children, adults, and seniors to grow together in small group settings and as part of our greater community.

We Serve God’s World

We know that our faith isn’t about us, it’s about loving and serving other people. Before he went to the cross, Jesus got down on his knees and washed the feet of his disciples with his own hands. He told them that he was setting an example for all his followers, and that we are to serve others in the same way, especially those who are most vulnerable and downtrodden in our world. That means that most of the work we do as a church doesn’t happen in a building, but in our daily lives and communities.
