Adults

No matter what age you are or what stage of life you’re in, there are lots of opportunities at Immanuel for you to grow in faith and grow closer to other members of our community.

Lectio Divina

Read scripture as a form of prayer! Lectio Divina is a prayer practice that involves reading the same scripture passage aloud multiple times and letting the scripture speak to us. There are four steps: 1) Read 2) Reflect 3) Respond and 4) Rest. Whether you read scripture often or you are reading the Bible for the first time, anyone can participate in Lectio Divina. You can join us every Monday morning on Zoom at 8:00am by clicking here!

Book Club

Immanuel's Book Club meets the third Thursday of every month at 6:00pm to talk about another book we've read throughout the month. We've read some amazing books recently! In September we're talking about Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, and in October we're reading The Book of Hope: A Survival Guide for Trying Times by Jane Goodall and Douglas Abrams. We meet in the sanctuary, where there's plenty of room for you to join us.

Adult Forum

Join us every Sunday morning at 10:30am (after you grab some food and spend some time at coffee hour, of course) as we gather for Adult Forum! Over the course of the year we look at specific texts and books from the Bible, discuss current events, explore important faith-related topics, and talk about big things happening in our community. Each month we also try to welcome a guest from a local non-profit or faith-based ministry so we can learn more and talk about ways our church can help support their work.

Thursday Morning Bible Study

Want to dig deeper into the Bible? Join us on Thursday mornings during the school year at 10:30am as we read and study the scriptures together. Whether you’ve read the Bible from cover to cover or you’ve never even cracked it open, there’s a place for you to learn and share. Like countless Lutherans before us, we believe that the best way to read the Bible is to read it together, trusting that God is speaking through the words we read and the voices of the people around us. Right now we're meeting on Zoom, and you can join us by clicking here!

Spirituality for the Home Stretch

Life looks different on the other side of 70. So does our understanding of and faith in God. At Immanuel, we invite seniors to gather for monthly conversations about life and faith and the world that we call “Spirituality for the Home Stretch.” As a group we pick a book to read, and then discuss a chapter each month. The group is open to all and meets on the first Tuesday of the month during the school year from 1:00 to 2:00pm.

Choir and Music Ministries

Immanuel has a great choir that's open to people of all ages and skill levels! Our choir helps to lead us in singing hymns during worship and regularly offers special anthems and musical selections. After spending some time apart during the pandemic, our choir is back and gathering for rehearsal on Thursdays nights at 7:00p.

Not a singer? That's okay! You can check out our handbell ensemble, join our flock of recorders, or become part of our pit band. We're always looking for people to share their musical gifts with our community, so if you have some musical talent and a willing heart, reach out to our Music Director, Claire!
